Make Your Own Effective Black Mold Treatment
Defined Tag: House mold. Black mold is a problem for many householders, especially those living in older homes. When you spot it, you need to be able to clean it instantly, before it can spread. But commercial treatments are often expensive and harsh. This article will show you how to make and use your own homemade black mold treatment, for under $1! Nothing could be simpler or cheaper. To begin with, you want to find a spray bottle. It's a good idea to buy one from the store, rather than reusing an old one. Many cleaners, including window cleaners and mold treatments, have ammonia in them. Our treatment is going to use bleach, and you never, ever, EVER want to mix ammonia and bleach. The two together create a chemical reaction and release chlorine gas, which can be deadly. Don't take chances! The extra dollar or two you might save by reusing an old spray bottle isn't worth the chance of killing yourself with your own mold cleanser. Once you have your spray bottle in hand, mix up your solution. You want to use half a cup of bleach (the cheap store brands work just as well as the name brands), diluted in half a gallon (2 qts.) of water. Stir gently to mix the bleach and water together. You can safely store your black mold treatment in the spray bottle for several months, although you may need to swirl the bottle gently before using, to make sure the bleach is evenly diluted. Always store your bottle in the same place, so that you can find it easily when you need it. A word of caution: because this treatment is bleach based, it is not suitable for all surfaces. It may damage fabric, paper, wallpaper, and paint, among others. Be sure surfaces are bleachable before using this black mold treatment on them. The treatment works best on concrete, unfinished wood, and some plastics.
